Note to self: Acrylic dries darker!
(I’d forgotten this and wondered why a blue I painted with today looked darker than when I mixed it. I want to try oils.)

I’m a little bit late posting this, because I started this blog on 22 April last year, but I’m happy to say I’ve been painting, and blogging here, for a year.
The kids found the beautiful leaf this is based on when we went on a walk yesterday. I didn’t really do it justice. This is dark and flat and pretty messy (I didn’t handle the veins or the edges of the leaf well). Oh well, the idea was there.
I started this at our class last Wednesday, and then took a few more days to finish it at home.
The focus was tone, and we used this James Casebere photograph as our reference.
Some more negative-space practice. Again, I used my pencil to assess the angles and proportions. I’m pretty happy with these.
Note: The headphones were lying down on the table just in front of me.
