Keep your overhead low and your brushes clean.Steven S. Walker (quoting Peter Fiore), The Artful Painter
Last Wednesday, we painted some still lifes from coloured photocopies. The reason we painted from photocopies rather than real still-life setups was so that we didn’t feel pressured time-wise. (We could take the paintings home and finish them there, which I did.)
I bought the rest of the materials for my art class today. Not cheap, even when you buy the “affordable” stuff, but I’m all set now. I’m looking forward to trying charcoal drawing, and I’m happy to finally have a palette knife. (No more misshaping my round brush by mixing paint with it!)
I’m excited to say, I bought some decent (Schmincke Akademie acrylic) paints today—along with some gesso, new brushes, and other bits and pieces to move my painting forward. Can’t wait to try out the new colours!
