I really enjoyed the night at Browne when we used different tools and techniques like this to make different marks. I can see how it will make for much more interesting paintings too. Check out some of Lewis’s.

Excited to say, I’ve got a new painting (the lamp one) underway. I’m well into the underpainting. (I decided to go traditional and use raw umber and ultramarine blue for that.)
Drawing faces is hard. The tiniest mismeasurement can ruin a likeness, and make the proportions look a bit odd, which I think they do here. Having said that, I’m pretty happy with this (drawn from a reference photo, not from life). I captured at least some of what I was trying to.
Sorry, the lighting wasn’t great when I took the photos. I like the first one the best. The brown on the last one is a bit overbearing.
Talent is overrated. Skill is aquirable.
